Synagogue, Market
As guests leave the jail, they are ushered to the synagogue where the Rabbi is in the middle of a class. Here, our guests will learn the “Shema”, along with the temple boys, and will receive a blessing.
Once the Rabbi has completed his blessing, the town gates open to a cacophony of sound, colourful sights, a multitude of scents from fine perfume and spices, to fresh fish and bread, and market sellers vying for the attention and purse strings of every visitor. Once inside, visitors get to eavesdrop on a gossip-session between 3 sellers who are discussing the suspicious circumstances surrounding the birth of a new-born baby.
We will be looking for lead speaking roles which will require memorization, as well as non-speaking roles (see below). All actors will be required to attend the Wardrobe-Fitting Day – Saturday, November 8, 9am-3pm (each actor will be given a specific one-hour time slot), the Dress Rehearsal – Saturday, December 6, 10am-12noon, and must arrive 90-minutes before tours begin on show days (for wardrobe, preparation, and prayer).
